Choralpalooza 2018

Last Saturday, 16 Wildcat students represented Wilson in Corvallis' annual Choralpalooza festival. This event features all choir students from 5th grade through high school as they prepare repertoire for each level (elementary, middle, and high) as well as mass repertoire performed by all students. This year, we were fortunate enough to host a guest clinician, Dr. Justin Smith, from Marylhill University to work with each of our choirs and conduct.

Our Wildcats got to observe the middle school rehearsal, work with 2 other teachers as well as Dr.Smith, and participate in a mass choir of 234 voices! A highlight of the event was a mass piece titled "I Have Had Singing" written by local composer Ron Jeffers. Mr. Jeffers was a well loved and widely known composer who founded the local music company Earthsongs. He passed away last in the spring of 2017 and we used this opportunity to remember and honor him. It was a powerful and somber moment as we realized the impact his music continues to have on musicians young and old.

In case you missed it, enjoy the mass choir performing "El Cielo Canta Alegria"
