Latest Music "Notes"

May 17, 2018

Last week was our "Jammin' in our Jammies" event and what an absolute BLAST we had! It was thrilling to watch students so excitedly share their learning with families and see our whole Wildcat community come together and enjoy music. Check the NEWS page for more details. If you caught any great photos or video clips of the event, I would love to have a copy. You can send files to my email found at the bottom of this page.

Kindergarten is busily preparing for their performance on Thursday, May 31st. They've been working really hard on nice singing voices, stage presence, and choreography. We can't wait to "sea" you at our show!

First grade is working on melodic dictation and are rocking it! This is only day 2 and they are using all prior knowledge about pitches to blow me away. Second grade is exploring instrument families to find out why they belong to each family and digging into melodic dictation as well.

Third grade continues to develop their skills with recorder with BAG melodies. They're practicing how to "chunk" music and look for patterns to determine its form. We have had some incredible discussions to justify our thinking and no matter how hard I try, I can't shake their confidence. I love it!

4th and 5th are still rocking with ukulele and are practicing how to transition between multiple chord changes while paired with strumming patterns. It can get a bit tricky, but they're persevering like champions!
