This past weekend, Corvallis High School hosted the winter concert for the elementary strings program. We're so fortunate at Wilson to not only have high participation in this program but also to be able to host weekly rehearsals for students from Wilson, Mountain View, and Jefferson. Our incredible string teacher, Ashley Nation, has done a tremendous job with these young artists over the last few months and we're so lucky to have her!

Over the fall semester, level 1 students have learned the basics of their instrument, arco and pizzacato playing techniques, how to use a bow, and of course some fun melodies. They performed Jingle Bells, Ants, Good King Wenceslas, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Level 2 students continued to develop their skills and challenged themselves with a piece titled "Vikings". "Vikings" split the orchestra into different voices and had a full symphonic texture that was very impressive.

I want to give a shout out to all our Wilson students involved in strings and congratulate them on a successful winter concert. I can't wait to hear how you progress over the spring semester and hear you at the end of year concert!
