What a fantastic first week back of music making! Not only has it been fantastic with wonderful moments of success, it has been a busy week. We're approaching a pretty hectic performance season next month with performances on the 8th, 10th, and 15th. Reminders will be posted on the home page so check back fairly regularly.
5th grade is continuing to work on xylophone pieces are are putting together a catchy piece called "Balafon". They've been working in partners to figure out the three layers and are making great progress! They also spent time reviewing how to read absolute pitch on the treble clef staff and shared several techniques for how to remember where each pitch lives.
3rd and 4th grade are continuing to prepare for their performances coming up on February 8th and 15th. Third graders are already getting full run-through of some colors and are sounding incredible! I continue to be impressed by their creativity and teamwork when it comes to their original choreography with ribbon streamers. 4th grade is sounding wonderful incorporating the recorder melodies into their stories. I'm excited to hear progress on their duets this coming week.

1st and 2nd grade shared TONS of knowledge about dinosaurs with me and I was blown away by how much they know! It was certainly a great way to kick off our preparations for their musical on March 22 - Dino Soaring! So far, we've been working on the dino dance and learning facts about triceratops and velociraptors. Mr. Beasley even caught us working on the Velociraptor and commented how fun it was!
Wildcat choir met this week for the first time since their winter performance and are excitedly preparing for Choralpalooza on February 10. Our first rehearsal was a successful one and students made great progress on 3 of our 4 songs already. All lyrics and recordings are available on on the choir page.
