Student Ensembles

Students can participate in three different ensembles once they reach 3rd grade. All three ensembles meet after school for rehearsal and perform at least twice each school year.

Choir is an open enrollment for any student in 3rd-5th grade. It meets twice a week for 45 minutes. Repertoire includes foreign language, unison, and two part arrangements.

Recorder Consort is open to 4th and 5th grade students. 5th grade can begin in the fall semester; 4th grade may join in the spring. This group prepares more advanced repertoire than is covered in the classroom lessons. Advanced players may extend their skills by learning alto recorder. Repertoire is multi-part and my include auxillary percussion.

Percussion Ensemble is the most advanced ensemble, open to 3rd-5th graders by invitation only. Enrollment is limited to 18 students and spots are offered based on responsibility, work ethic, classroom leadership, and musical aptitude. This ensemble meets once a week for full rehearsal and has open practice days when schedule allows. Students are assigned a peer to establish a mentor relationship with, helping hold each other accountable for practice records and helping each other understand their assigned performance parts.
